Meet Jacqueline
A meteorologist and journalist in one—that’s Jacqueline Bennett. Jacqueline’s unique career trajectory started after earning her degree in journalism and embarking on a career in TV news. The weather bug bit Jacqueline early in her career and she was encouraged to pursue a degree in meteorology. She earned her Atmospheric Science degree from San Francisco State University while working full-time on-the-air at KRON and her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society shortly thereafter.
She then made stops at stations in San Diego, Boston, and Los Angeles, where she earned the prestigious Certified Consulting Meteorologist seal, making her one of the few professionals in the country to hold dual certification. Jacqueline has also served on the Board of Certified Consulting Meteorologists since 2022.
utility and fire weather expertise
Jacqueline spent 16 years in TV news before transitioning to utility meteorology at Southern California Edison. Jacqueline was instrumental in implementing high-resolution state-of-the-art weather visualization software to more effectively communicate hazards to stakeholders. Her primary duties in business resiliency include forecasting wildfire risk for Public Safety Power Shutoffs, forecasting storm hazard risk for preparedness and crew pre-positioning, fulfilling data requests recreating past weather conditions, forecasting temperatures and cloud cover for energy procurement, and helping manage the largest network of privately owned weather stations in the country. During her tenure, Jacqueline became IMT-qualified, which makes her a unique fit for emergency preparedness and response projects.
